further inspired by my day playing with fibres at the weekend, i’m working on a piece of silk “paper” using tops, laps and short lengths of threads brought several years ago from what was then one of my favourite suppliers. the basic idea is to sandwich the threads and fibres between two sheets of water soluble plastic, then machine this together before dissolving the soluble plastic away.

with the mix of fibres i’ve used, the resulting surface should be cobweb fine with subtle grey and pink tones. the photo below shows a mass of rather dense looking threads and fibres under plastic, hopefully my finished surface will be more attractive than it looks now
